I am interested in developing techniques to measure several aspects of cerebral physiology. Currently my focus is on developing techniques to measure oxygen metabolism using measurements of R2' – the reversible transverse relaxation rate. Through the quantitative BOLD technique we can use R2'-weighted data to measure the oxygen extraction fraction. I have also used R2' to measure the BOLD scaling parameter M in the calibrated BOLD technique to measure fractional changes in oxygen metabolism.
Previously I have developed techniques to measure absolute and fractional changes in venous CBV and an alternative technique for measuring CVR using a sinusoidally varying hypercapnia stimulus.
